Job summary
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a skilled Power System Protection Engineer to design, test, and implement protection and control schemes for electrical power systems. You will develop relay protection settings for utilities, substations, and industrial clients, collaborating with project teams to meet system requirements.
The role emphasizes testing, commissioning, and adherence to SEL Values and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of power system protection and relay coordination.
- Familiar with IEEE, IEC, and NERC/FERC standards.
- Experience designing and implementing protection schemes for utilities or industrial settings.
- Demonstrated problem-solving for complex protection challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement protection and control schemes for power systems, including relay protection and control systems.
- Create protective relay settings for transmission & distribution utilities, substations, and industrial clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements and implement protection strategies.
- Perform system testing and commissioning to validate protection schemes.
- Follow SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
