Job summary

OxyChem is seeking an IT Expert, Industrial Control System, to join the IT Power System group in Houston. Hybrid 9/80.

You will architect and support AspenTech GMS solutions, drive scheduling and performance optimization, and ensure secure, scalable data flows between OT and IT layers. The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field and 3+ years with GMS, plus knowledge of APIs, ICCP, SCADA/EMS/DMS, and cybersecurity practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 3+ years experience with Generation Management Systems (GMS).
• Strong power generation operations understanding (thermal/renewables/cogen).
• Experience with real-time OT/IT environments and system integration.
• Knowledge of APIs, OPC, and messaging standards.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and collaboration skills.
• Basic ICCP knowledge and IT network understanding.
• Proficient in MS Office; exposure to programming languages.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, configure, implement, and support GMS solutions.
• Lead scheduling, dispatch, unit commitment, performance optimization.
• Own integrations between GMS and SCADA/EMS/DMS and data historians.
• Analyze system performance and provide optimization recommendations.
• Partner with operations, engineering, IT, and cybersecurity teams.
• Lead upgrades, patches, testing, and change management.
• Improve cybersecurity posture and document procedures.
• Provide troubleshooting, RCAs, and corrective actions.
• Mentor operational and technical teams and provide escalation support.
• Drive power systems modernization and enterprise integration projects.
• Support data management and analytics initiatives across IT/OT.
