Job summary

OxyChem is seeking an IT Expert in Industrial Control Systems for the Houston, TX area. This hybrid 9/80 role focuses on AspenTech GMS implementation, system integration with SCADA/EMS/DMS, and ensuring secure, reliable power system operations across OT/IT environments.

Responsibilities include upgrades, performance analysis, data management, and collaboration with operations, IT, and cybersecurity teams to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, power systems engineering, information technology, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with generation management systems (GMS).
• Strong knowledge of power generation operations (thermal, renewable, or cogeneration).
• Experience with real-time operational systems and OT/IT environments.
• Knowledge of system integration standards, data flows, and interfaces (APIs, OPC, messaging).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic knowledge ICCP.
• Understanding of IT networks.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with project management concepts.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and support AspenTech GMS solutions aligned with operational objectives and compliance.
• Lead generation scheduling, dispatch, unit commitment, and optimization for reliable power operations.
• Own system integrations between GMS and SCADA/EMS/DMS and data historians.
• Perform performance analysis, identify optimization opportunities, and deliver improvement recommendations.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex issues.
• Mentor operations and technical teams, and provide Tier 1 escalation support.
