Job summary

MP Materials seeks an OT Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain the facility’s digital backbone for real-time and historical data collection from automated systems. You will collaborate with IT, controls, and operations to enable secure cross-platform integration.

The role requires experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk View, GE iFix), PLC integration (Rockwell), and data historians like AVEVA PI. Expect collaboration on network security and FAT/SAT activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on OT systems experience in manufacturing or process environment.
• Proficiency with SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or similar.
• Experience with PLC programming and integration (Rockwell).
• Familiarity with AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI) or similar data historian platforms.
• Hands-on experience with industrial networking, VLANs, managed switches, and firewall configurations.
• Working knowledge of OT/ICS security standards (ISA‑95, ISA/IEC 62443).

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain SCADA/HMI systems (e.g., GE iFix, Ignition, FactoryTalk View).
• Support AVEVA PI data collection, historian, alarming, and reporting.
• Implement and maintain version control in local systems for audits.
• Integrate field devices, PLCs, HMIs, and sensors into OT network with standardized data flow.
• Develop secure, segmented industrial network architectures (VLANs, switches, firewalls).
• Support real-time and historical data aggregation into centralized historian platforms.
• Configure protocols like Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA/DA, and MQTT.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity on OT/IT boundary controls and security standards.
• Participate in FATs, SATs, installation, and startup activities.
• Provide troubleshooting for SCADA, historians, and network infrastructure during operations.
• Create network diagrams, data flow schematics, and system configs.
• Review/integrate with capital projects on infrastructure designs.
• Work with contractors on installing/testing site-wide network infra.
