Job summary

Qualus Corporation invites applicants to join its Summer 2027 Engineering Boot Camp for a career as a Power Systems Engineer. The program combines classroom instruction, site visits, and hands-on substation training, with FE exam guidance to build a strong technical foundation from day one.

As an Engineer I, you will collaborate across departments to perform power system studies, including short circuit, load flow, protection coordination, arc flash, and harmonic analysis, while developing

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) with focus on power systems.
• Ability to travel 50-70%.
• Educational experience related to medium/high voltage electricity (preferred).
• Knowledge of test equipment and wiring usage.
• Must work independently with high attention to detail and strong communication.
• Strong computer skills.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for facilities using SKM, ETAP, or Easypower.
• Apply knowledge of switchgear, MCCs, circuit breakers, panels, and disconnects to determine mitigation.
• Develop study reports and communicate results to customers.
• Perform data collection activities.
• Develop and/or implement arc flash mitigation designs.
• Interpret new construction drawing packages.
• Develop relay protective setpoints and settings files.
• Develop/update equipment control schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate on project teams to meet quality and project goals.
• Meet all project deadlines and maintain cost estimates within budget.
• Maintain up-to-date technical skills related to substations and protection/control schematics.
• Execute small to medium projects with limited oversight.
• Self-manage assigned projects and cost controls.
• Coordinate activities effectively with other departments and customers.
