Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District has an immediate opening for a Substation Technician Intern - Summer 2027 located at Norfolk Operations Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. The internship runs from early/mid-May to mid-August 2025 and requires completion of freshman year in Electro-Mechanical Technology or Electrical Construction and Control at Northeast Community College.

Interns will learn from experienced substation technicians, perform maintenance and testing, and may travel up to 50% with possible

Qualifications

• Must have completed freshman year in Electro-Mechanical Technology or Electrical Construction and Control program at an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist in substation maintenance, testing and operation to support reliable power delivery.
• Perform installation, checkout, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and operation of electrical equipment as assigned.
• Travel as needed (25–50%) with occasional overnight stays and respond to emergencies as directed.
