Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District in Columbus, NE seeks an Engineer Intern for Sub Transmission Planning for Summer 2027 at the Columbus General Office. The internship runs May–August 2027 and reports to the Sub-Transmission Planning Supervisor.

You will assist experienced engineers in evaluating impacts of customer generation and loads, using Synergi for modeling, and proposing system upgrades and protection measures. Housing stipend may apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an electrical engineering degree at an accredited college/university.
• Must be finishing their sophomore year.
• Available May through August 2027.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate impact of customer owned generation sites and new proposed customer loads.
• Use Synergi modeling software to assess system limits and power quality requirements.
• Provide system upgrade and protection recommendations with other teams.
• Present modeled results to customers and other stakeholders.
