Job summary

Siemens is launching the Power Protection & Automation Field Technician Development Program (PPA FTDP), beginning January 19, 2027. The one-year, full-time program trains recent graduates to test and commission power protection and automation systems across multiple US regions.

You’ll rotate through field service assignments, gain hands-on experience with SIPROTEC and SICAM gear, and work with experienced technicians and engineers. Expect extensive travel and structured mentoring.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems Technology, Electronics, Electromechanical Technology, or a related technical field.
Willingness to travel up to 40 weeks per year and travel to customer sites across the United States.
Legal authorization to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, or nonstandard schedules based on project needs.

Responsibilities

Support testing and commissioning of power protection and automation systems.
Perform switchgear functional testing, relay testing, and protection verification.
Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Gain hands-on experience with SIPROTEC relays, DIGSI 5, Omicron test equipment, SICAM A8000, IEC 61850, industrial networks, and fiber-optic systems.
Document test results and communicate technical issues to engineering and project teams.
Follow Siemens and customer safety, quality, and site requirements.
