Job summary

BP is seeking a Non-Energy Optimization Specialist to support the portfolio management and profitability analysis of the Commercial & Industrial retail electricity portfolio. The role focuses on RA, MTR and capacity positions, with governance across CAISO markets and regulatory compliance.

The candidate will build pricing models, manage non-energy trades in ETRM, and collaborate with sales and pricing teams to optimize retail portfolios and hedging strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a quantitative field (math, stats, economics, quantitative finance or engineering).
• Mid-level analytical or commercial experience.
• Retail supply experience or similar commercial experience.
• Working knowledge of CAISO RA & MTR preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ISO markets (CAISO/PJM/NYISO).
• Proficiency in Excel VBA and SQL; Python preferred.
• Analytical skills for risk assessment.
• Experience with ETRM systems preferred.
• Collaborative, cross-functional teamwork mindset.
• Excellent data querying, visualization and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a retail portfolio of power products including RA, MTR, capacity and related products.
• Transact bilaterally and on exchange to hedge and optimize the portfolio.
• Handle regulatory filings for CAISO RA & MTR.
• Maintain non-energy curves and related products.
• Provide market data to pricing, sales and customers.
• Build models for optimization, risk and hedging strategies.
• Book trades in ETRM and support forecasting data.
• Support stress testing and exposure reporting for traders.
• Explain variances during actualization and ensure policy compliance.
• Liaise with teams to ensure accurate customer invoicing.
