Job summary

bp in Houston is seeking a capable Retail Supply Trader to help manage and optimize the Trading Commercial & Industrial retail electricity load portfolio. You will identify opportunities using market fundamentals and analytics, and work with affiliate units to deploy innovative solutions.

You will support hedging, price discovery, and deal execution, collaborating with Marketing and Legal teams to ensure alignment with bp’s trading ideas while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (math, stats, IT, quantitative finance or engineering).
• Mid-level experience in retail analytics, trading, demand response, portfolio optimization, or asset optimization.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO markets and electric power grid in ERCOT and neighboring regions.
• High proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of VBA and SQL; Python knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Portfolio Optimization by maintaining prices for tradable products and market info for retail pricing, sales and customers.
• Provide market access, price discovery and transaction execution for BP clients.
• Collaborate with Marketing to align opportunities with trading ideas and help grow the business.
• Maintain customer relationships by applying market fundamentals to explanations and discussions.
• Manage hedging and optimization for BP's portfolio of retail customers; price, manage, and book non-standard deals.
• Assist in Portfolio Management strategy development and identify structured opportunities for closing transactions.
• Manage risk for a non-standard portfolio within allocated limits; monitor forecasted load deviations and exposures.
• Coordinate with Legal to draft customer contract language; build and maintain data bases; ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
