Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; plant operator training or equivalent on-the-job training preferred.
• Completion of Plant Operator Training Program including on-the-job training (three years) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and monitor steam power plant equipment in a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound manner.
• Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret readings to troubleshoot equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines for personal protection and for others.
• Work with apprentices/operators to teach proper operating procedures.
• Record data and logs using instruments, charts, and annunciator systems.
