Job summary

NRG Energy, Inc. in Pekin, IL seeks an Equipment Operator to run and maintain power plant boilers, steam generators and related systems.

You will follow directions from Unit Operator, monitor control room indicators, and troubleshoot equipment issues while adhering to health, safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities include in-plant inspections, outage support, log maintenance, and timely preparation of work permits and reports.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent education.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• 1 year experience operating and/or performing maintenance on equipment such as engines, generators, boilers, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, fuel, or chemical and water systems.
• An Associate’s degree in an industrial related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment under direction for maximum efficiency and safety.
• Monitor equipment conditions in control rooms and with test equipment.
• Diagnose problems and prepare work requests for defects.
• Read and implement manuals, P&IDs, and procedures.
• Inspect plant and equipment; assist in outages and maintenance planning.
• Prepare work permits and ensure safety compliance.
• Perform electrical and maintenance operations to place equipment in/out of service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and quality procedures.
