Job summary

NRG is seeking a Plant Operator in Bridgeport, TX to ensure safe and efficient generation of electricity and steam. You will monitor plant equipment, perform startup/shutdown, and manage control-room operations with emphasis on safety and reliability.

This role requires 0-3 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. A structured progression pathway to CRO is offered, with mandatory safety and qualification training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and valid driver’s license.
• 0-3 years plant operator experience in a power plant environment.
• Ability to complete required qualification cards (WPO/CRO).
• Must pass pre-employment DOT drug screen and background check.
• Pathway progression from Plant Operator to Control Room Operator within defined timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor power plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Regulate turbines, generators, HRSGs, and auxiliary equipment from the control room.
• Perform startup/shutdown and load control; respond to dispatcher orders in real time.
• Maintain CRO/shift logs and generate/Review work requests for repairs.
