Job summary

NRG Energy in Eldon, TX seeks a DOTP-Plant Operator to operate and monitor steam power plant equipment and supporting systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and record data, train apprentices, and work with a team to maintain continuous power generation while following safety and DOT program requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Plant Operator Training Program or similar on-the-job

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics and grammar.
• Completion of Plant Operator Training Program to include on-the-job training (three years) or equivalent experience and skill to include on-the-job training.
• Must have valid state driver’s license.
• The position is a DOT PHMSA covered position and requires the successful candidate to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and drug and alcohol testing background check, and once placed will be a participant in the NRG DOT Program.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor steam power plant equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Observe operating conditions and troubleshoot equipment via meters and gauges.
• Teach proper operating procedures to apprentice operators.
• Record data and maintain shift logs per procedures.
• Perform routine cleaning of work area.
• Arrange transportation to work location as needed.
