Kiewit Power Engineering in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Mid Level Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to power plant projects. You will work within the Design Engineering team on piping, equipment sizing, and process diagrams, applying industry codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in mechanical engineering and design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• PE license preferred but not required.
• Strong ethics, integrity and safety focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; team player.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques, codes, and standards.
• Develop mechanical piping and instrument diagrams for power plant systems (P&IDs).
• Prepare sizing calculations and specs for major equipment (boilers, condensers, pumps).
• Create mechanical designs, equipment lists, GA drawings, PFDs, and aux power demands.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers and engineers; review progress and results.
