Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to power plant and oil & gas projects. You will apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics in system engineering tasks within project teams to deliver technical drawings, specifications and reports.

You will size equipment and piping, prepare Isometrics and piping drawings, and participate in technical bid reviews and client deliverables. Hybrid work applies with in-office collaboration three days weekly.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering with strong academics in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of applying mechanical engineering principles to project design.
• Ability to create technical plans, fabrication drawings, and models.

Responsibilities

• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to power plant and oil & gas engineering projects.
• Perform system engineering tasks and develop mechanical design deliverables with project teams.
• Prepare calculations sizing equipment, piping, valves and inline components for project needs.
• Develop technical specifications and conduct technical bid reviews to support client recommendations.
• Produce piping & instrumentation drawings, equipment lists, line lists, valve lists and material lists.
• Coordinate with mechanical designers to develop Isometric drawings, plans, sections, elevations and pipe support drawings.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification when needed.
