Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Equipment Operator to manage starting and stopping power plant boilers and auxiliary systems at our Pekin, IL facility. You will monitor plant performance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and assist with maintenance tasks to ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include operating control room equipment, following procedures, and supporting outages and routine inspections while ensuring environmental and work safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• 1 year experience operating and/or performing maintenance on equipment such as engines, generators, boilers, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, fuel, or chemical and water systems. OR an Associate’s degree in an industrial related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment under supervision for efficiency and safety.
• Monitor control room indicators and test equipment.
• Diagnose equipment problems and file detailed work requests.
• Read and implement technical manuals, P&IDs and operating procedures.
• Prepare reports, logs and change charts for daily operations.
