Job summary

Vistra is seeking a Control Room Operator at Odessa Ector Power Plant to ensure safe, reliable operation of the plant's control room and field systems. You'll monitor DCS, perform startups, load changes, and respond to outages, alarms, and emergencies, coordinating with the Control Room Coordinator and maintenance teams.

Applicants must complete and maintain qualification tracks for Water Plant Operator, Auxiliary Plant Operator, and Control Room Operator according to the plant qualification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must successfully complete OEPP operator qualification program through WPO, APO, and CRO positions.
• Ability and willingness to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, overtime, emergency call-ins, and outage assignments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear work directions, permits, logs, and turnover.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn plant control, electrical logs, work-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate gas turbines, steam turbine, generators, water-treatment systems per procedures and dispatch requirements.
• Monitor conditions via DCS, alarms, trends, field indications; identify anomalies and respond.
• Perform startups, shutdowns, load changes, and transfers under supervision.
• Respond to upsets, trips, alarms, and emergencies; stabilize conditions and communicate status.
