Job summary

Vistra Energy is seeking a motivated Control Room Operator to safely operate Odessa Ector Power Plant and support water treatment, plant chemistry, maintenance, and performance activities.

The role focuses on monitoring plant systems from the control room and field, executing startups and load changes, and responding to abnormal conditions. Candidates must complete and maintain operator qualifications per the plant program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to complete the OEPP operator qualification program through the WPO, APO, and CRO positions.
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, overtime, emergency call-ins, and outage assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate gas turbines, steam turbine, generators, and water-treatment systems per procedures.
• Monitor plant conditions via DCS, alarms, and logs; take timely action on abnormal conditions.
• Perform startups, shutdowns, load changes, and transfers under direction of the Control Room Coordinator.
• Respond to upsets, trips, and emergencies; stabilize conditions and communicate needs.
• Coordinate operations with the Control Room Coordinator and maintenance teams.
• Maintain logs and records; handle permits and turnover information.
