Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Generation) to join our Power & Energy team in Houston, TX, with locations such as New York, Seattle, Boise, Overland Park, Atlanta, Oradell and Mt. Laurel also considered.

You will lead mechanical design projects for thermal generation and district energy facilities, interface with clients and vendors, mentor staff, and coordinate with piping designers. A PE license and 10+ years in mechanical design are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited program.
• 10+ years of post-education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license (multi-state preferred).
• Experience with power generation and district energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical construction codes and QA/QC processes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for client interfacing.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects for thermal generation and district energy facilities.
• Interface with clients, equipment vendors and contractors.
• Mentor and direct less experienced staff.
• Coordinate design with piping designers and drafters.
• Perform equipment sizing and piping pressure drop calculations.
• Prepare P&IDs and select/size pipe and valves for power plant systems.
• Prepare construction scopes of work for mechanical systems.
• Ensure QA/QC adherence and project documentation.
