Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking a Principal Program Engineer in Ludington, MI to lead engineering projects across generation assets, including solar, wind, hydro, and pumped storage. The role oversees planning, criteria, reviews, and successful implementation from conception to completion.

You will mentor engineers, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure QA/QC adherence while supporting modernization and renewable initiatives within the Generation Design group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with seven or more years in a program engineer capacity.
• Professional Engineering license (PE) acceptable in lieu of ABET if required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering projects from design through closeout.
• Mentor engineers and technicians, guiding technical execution.
• Ensure compliance with codes, QA/QC, and performance standards.
• Support Agile delivery by balancing team performance with priorities.
• Review deliverables, identify issues, and drive corrective actions.
• Develop scopes of work for external firms and manage their performance.
