Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Ludington Pump Storage facility in Ludington, MI. This onsite role leads mechanical design efforts from concept to production, guides a team of engineers and technicians, and ensures safety, standards, and customer requirements are met.

Responsibilities include design, development, testing, and coordination with customers; budget monitoring and reporting; collaboration across departments to resolve issues efficiently.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Or non-ABET degree with PE license and 7+ years of experience.
• Experience leading mechanical projects and teams.
• Strong CAD and GD&T knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design, control, and implement mechanical systems and products; serve as primary contact with clients.
• Manage development and implementation of mechanical systems.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, and addenda for contracts.
• Oversee installation and testing of equipment and components.
• Collaborate with customers and teams; monitor progress and budgets; prepare reports.
