Job summary

DLB Associates is seeking a Power Engineer – Physical Electrical to expand its substation design practice, delivering physical electrical designs for medium- to high-voltage facilities from concept through construction and commissioning.

The role is hands-on, requires equipment layouts, grounding, and cable routing, and involves coordinating with civil, protection, and project teams to meet code and client requirements, all within a remote work setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree required.
• PE license in Electrical Engineering (active or in progress).
• 5+ years of progressive substation physical electrical design experience (8+ years preferred).
• Experience with AIS and GIS substation physical design at medium- to high-voltage level.
• Hands-on experience producing construction-quality substation drawings including grounding designs and cable/conduit systems.
• Experience working with utilities/owner engineering teams on utility-scale projects.
• Ability to work remotely with strong self-management and communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed physical electrical design for substations and grid-interconnection facilities.
• Develop general arrangement plans, grounding, and cable/conduit layouts.
• Coordinate with civil, protection, and project management teams to integrate designs.
• Prepare project design and construction documents for client reviews.
• Support project execution, RFIs, field engineering, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE standards, and utility requirements.
• Produce construction-quality drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit.
