Job summary

LVI Associates seeks a Substation Physical Design Engineer with 4+ years of hands-on experience to support design and execution of high‑voltage substations. The role involves developing physical design packages for transmission and distribution substations and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams in a fully remote setting.

Responsibilities include preparing GA drawings, plan/elevations, equipment layouts, grounding, routing, reviews, and client interfacing on projects from 12kV to 500kV.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in substation physical design.
• Experience designing transmission and distribution substations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Autodesk Vault, Bluebeam and MS Office.
• Knowledge of utility design standards and practices.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop physical design packages for new, upgraded, and expanded substations.
• Prepare GA drawings, plan/elevation drawings, equipment layouts, grounding plans, and routing layouts.
• Coordinate with Protection & Control, Civil/Structural, and Relay Settings teams.
• Conduct design reviews and QA checks to ensure client/industry standards compliance.
• Support construction, commissioning, and field engineering activities as needed.
• Interface with utility and renewable energy clients throughout project execution.
