Job summary

WSP USA invites a summer Electrical Engineering Intern (Small Utility) to join the Lakewood, Colorado team for a 12-week program starting May 17, 2027. You will work with senior engineers on power delivery and protection tasks, gaining hands-on experience through a structured internship.

The program emphasizes mentorship, networking, and professional development within WSP’s power practice, with no relocation housing assistance provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or EE technology with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the United States.
• Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering—power systems.
• Strong communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from mentors and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical and professional skills.
• Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
• Work under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Participate in substation design including physical, electrical, relaying, and grounding aspects.
• Support transmission and distribution projects.
• Gain experience in system relaying and protection studies.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
