Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern to join our San Diego, CA office for the 12-week summer program. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects and gain exposure to design calculations, field work, and documentation preparation.

The internship targets undergrad or graduate students, with May 2027 start, and offers mentorship, networking opportunities, and career development within a leading power delivery practice.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering undergraduate program with anticipated graduation in Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering and desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Proficient with basic technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.
