Job summary

TMEIC in Roanoke, VA, seeks an Electrical Test Engineer to develop, execute, and document tests for low and medium-voltage inverters, supporting certification, validation and RCA.

You will design test setups, operate power sources and data acquisition equipment, analyze results, generate formal reports, and coordinate with labs and certification agencies.

The role requires travel up to 15%, ability to lift 50 lbs, and strong communication skills to partner with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 2 years of demonstrated experience with commissioning, testing, or certifying low or medium-voltage inverters.
• Demonstrated knowledge of power electronics topologies, control systems, and inverter operation.
• Demonstrated experience in data acquisition and analysis tools such as Yokogawa, Dewesoft, or HBK.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear report generation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Availability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.
• Demonstrated experience with designing electrical circuits and working with electrical test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review and execute test plans for electrical and environmental test setups for inverters
• Design, build, and maintain electrical and environmental test setups
• Program, operate, set up, and maintain test equipment and instrumentation
• Collect and analyze test results using statistical and engineering methods
• Maintain records of all test activities, configurations, results, and observations
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality systems
• Generate formal test reports for internal review and certification agencies
• Serve as primary technical contact with third-party labs and agencies during submittals
• Perform validation and verification tests at component and system levels for inverters
• Set up and conduct factory witness tests per client specs
• Ensure calibration of lab equipment in a timely manner
• Drive continuous improvement in the lab
• Troubleshoot issues with lab staff and design engineers
• Adhere to safety requirements
• Operate forklift to move equipment as needed
