Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all test activities, configurations, and results.
  • Ensure testing complies with standards, safety regulations, and quality systems.
  • Generate formal test reports for internal review and certification submissions.
  • Serve as primary technical contact with third-party labs and agencies.
  • Perform validation and verification tests at component and system levels.
  • Set up factory witness tests per client specs and quality standards.
  • Ensure lab equipment calibration and drive continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot issues with lab engineers and product design teams.
  • Adhere to company and client safety requirements; operate forklift as needed.

General Role Description

Develop, execute, and document tests required for certification, validation, and/or root cause analysis (RCA), for low and medium-voltage inverters

Role Accountabilities
  • Review and execute test plans for electrical and environmental test setups, for testing low and medium-voltage inverters
  • Design, build, and maintain electrical and environmental test setups for testing low and medium-voltage inverters
  • Program, operate, set up, and maintain test equipment and instrumentation, including AC/DC power sources, load banks, data acquisition equipment, and environmental chambers
  • Collect and analyze test results, and interpret the results using statistical and engineering methods to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Maintain accurate records of all test activities, configurations, results, and observations
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality management systems
  • Generate formal test reports for internal review and submission to certification agencies
  • Serve as primary technical contact with third-party testing labs and certification agencies during the submittal and auditing process, as assigned
  • Perform validation and verification tests at the component and system levels for inverters, including safety compliance, electrical functionality, grid-support, and islanding
  • Set up and conduct factory witness tests in accordance with client specifications and quality standards
  • Ensure that the lab’s equipment is calibrated in a timely manner
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the lab
  • Troubleshoot issues during testing, and collaborate with lab engineers and/or product design engineers to determine root causes and develop solutions
  • Adhere to both Company and client safety requirements as required
  • Operate a forklift to move test equipment in place, such as a PV or ESS inverter, as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience with commissioning, testing, or certifying low or medium-voltage inverters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power electronics topologies, control systems, and inverter operation
  • Demonstrated experience in data acquisition and analysis tools such as Yokogawa, Dewesoft, or HBK
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear report generation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex electrical and software issues independently for low and medium-voltage inverters
  • Demonstrated experience with designing electrical circuits and working with electrical test equipment
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 15%, sometimes with limited notice
  • Ability to work in all elements, depending on the lab location, time of the year, heat, cold, rain & snow

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of work experience in the commissioning of low or medium-voltage inverters
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with foreign partners, service providers, suppliers, and compliance agencies
  • Demonstrated success coordinating the work of others to achieve assigned goals
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and operating laboratory power equipment
  • Familiarity with low and medium-voltage inverter test and certification standards
  • Certified forklift operator

Salary Range: $89,750-134,650
