Job summary

NAES is seeking an EI&C Technician for the APEX Power Co. Project in Hubbard, TX. You will participate in pre-commissioning activities, calibrate and test instrumentation, support functional testing and startups, and ensure safe, compliant operations across turbines, engines, and BESS.

You will coordinate with engineers, vendors, and contractors; document data and observations; and help optimize performance while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Plant Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent technical training may be considered.
• Experience with EI&C systems in power plants or industrial settings.
• Knowledge of high-voltage switchgear, motors, transformers, batteries, inverters, and generator excitation equipment.
• Hands-on instrumentation and control across turbines, engines, and BESS.
• Proficiency with PLCs, SCADA, and DCS for plant automation and alarms.
• Understanding start-up, shutdown, and performance optimization for combustion turbines and engines.
• Experience coordinating maintenance with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Must have a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Participate in plant and system orientation for instrumentation, SCADA/DCS, turbines, engines, BESS, and safety procedures.
• Inspect, calibrate, test instrumentation and control devices; verify alarms and readiness for tests.
• Assist commissioning engineers with functional testing, system startups, and troubleshooting.
• Record test results, observations, and calibration data; coordinate with contractors and teams; follow safe work practices.
• Calibrate, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and install plant instrumentation and control systems including valves, dampers, VSDs, motors, transmitters, and analyzers.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems; diagnose faults and update programs.
• Document plant activities and data; support improvements to efficiency and reliability across turbines, engines, and BESS.
• Coordinate with internal departments and contractors to minimize downtime during outages and upgrades.
• Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials per safety/environmental rules.
