ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. These roles involve providing make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, already-skilled staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position can work remotely, but new hires will be required to attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A MAKE-READY ENGINEERING DESIGNER AT SIGMA:

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and/or general distribution design following established guidelines, processes, and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional partners to solve problems encountered during the design process.
• Conduct Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with outside parties to obtain necessary approvals.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other software as required.
• Perform quality control on colleagues' work when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Management may consider other educational combinations.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design is required. 2+ years of Make-Ready Engineering / Joint-Use design experience is preferred.
• Personal: Valid driver’s license and insurance, willingness to undergo background/drug tests, and authorization to work in the U.S.
• Willing to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design programs is required.
• Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning, with the ability to learn proprietary software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged use of computers and phones.
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, and view screens with close and distance vision.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Availability to work M-F 8-5 PM Eastern time (adjusted for different time zones).
