ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. We provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, skilled staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position is remote, but new hires will attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A MAKE-READY ENGINEERING DESIGNER AT SIGMA:

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and budget adherence.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, following established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional teams to solve design problems.
• Handle Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with outside parties for approvals.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on colleagues' work when required.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design; 2+ years preferred. Experience in Make-Ready Engineering / Joint-Use design is required.

PERSONAL: Valid driver’s license, insurance, willingness to undergo background/drug tests, authorized to work in the U.S., and willingness to travel overnight if needed.

Proficiency with CAD, MicroStation, or related design software; knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning procedures; ability to learn proprietary software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged use of computers and telephones
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, and view screens with close, distance, and peripheral vision
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Availability to work M-F 8-5 PM Eastern Time
