Power Distribution Make Ready Designer (Remote)

About This Opportunity

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer roles requiring Power Make Ready Design experience. These positions involve providing make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, experienced staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position is remote; however, new hires must attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

What You Can Expect to Do

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, following established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional partners to solve design problems.
• Handle permitting and easement duties: research pole ownership, right-of-way, property rights, permit requirements, and liaise with outside parties for approvals.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on colleagues' work when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• Education: HS diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Management may consider other educational combinations.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design is required; 2+ years preferred. Management may consider alternative combinations of education and experience.
• Personal: Valid driver’s license, insurance, willingness to undergo background/drug tests, and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel overnight if necessary (minimal).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design software is required.
• Knowledge of power distribution systems and ability to learn proprietary software.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged use of computers and phones.
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, and view screens with good vision and focus.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Work hours: M-F, 8 AM-5 PM Eastern (adjusted for time zones).
