Power Distribution Make Ready Designer (Remote)

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. We provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We need knowledgeable, already-skilled staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position can work remotely, but new hires will be required to attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A MAKE-READY ENGINEERING DESIGNER AT SIGMA:

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, following established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional teams to solve problems encountered during design.
• Perform Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, rights of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with outside parties for approvals.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• May be responsible for quality control on others’ work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher is preferred but not mandatory. Management may consider other combinations of education and experience.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design required; 2+ years preferred. Management may consider other combinations of education and experience.
• Personal: Valid driver’s license and insurance, willingness to undergo background/drug tests, and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design software required.
• Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning; ability to learn proprietary software.
• Ability to work M-F 8-5 PM Eastern time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged use of computers and phones.
• Ability to perform activities like data analysis, note transcription, and viewing screens with good vision.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
