ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. We provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, already-skilled staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position can work remotely, but new hires will be required to attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A MAKE-READY ENGINEERING DESIGNER AT SIGMA:

• Execute work orders for power distribution infrastructure design, meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, applying established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional teams to solve problems encountered during the design process.
• Conduct Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, and permit requirements; communicate with outside parties for approvals and easements.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on others’ work when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• EDUCATION: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Management may consider other education/experience combinations.
• EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design; 2+ years preferred. Experience in Make-Ready Engineering / Joint-Use design required.
• PERSONAL: Valid driver’s license and insurance; willingness to undergo background checks and drug testing; authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willing to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel required).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design software is required.
• Knowledge of power distribution system construction, planning, and proprietary software is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged use of computer equipment.
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, and view computer screens with good vision.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work hours: M-F 8-5 PM Eastern (adjusted for local time zones).
