ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. These roles involve providing make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, experienced staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position can work remotely, but new hires will be required to attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A MAKE-READY ENGINEERING DESIGNER AT SIGMA:

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, adhering to quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, following established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional partners to solve design problems.
• Handle Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with outside parties for approvals.
• Use design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on colleagues' work when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• EDUCATION: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design required; 2+ years preferred. Other educational and experience combinations may be considered.
• PERSONAL: Valid driver’s license and insurance, willingness to undergo background checks, drug tests, and driving record reviews, and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willing to travel overnight if necessary (minimal travel).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or similar design programs required.
• Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning, with ability to learn customer-specific proprietary software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged use of computer and phone equipment.
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, and view screens, requiring good vision and focus.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Availability to work M-F, 8-5 PM Eastern time.
