Note: While we list our Designer openings in multiple locations, you only need to apply to one as they are remote. New hires will be required to attend an initial 2-week in-person paid training at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

About This Opportunity

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Power Make Ready Design Experience. We provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, experienced staff to join our program teams.

What You Can Expect to Do as a Make-Ready Engineering Designer at Sigma

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, following established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional partners to solve design problems.
• Conduct Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, and permit requirements; communicate with outside parties for approvals.
• Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on others' work when required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher is preferred but not mandatory. Management may consider alternative qualifications.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design; 2+ years preferred. Management may consider varied education and experience combinations.
• Personal: Valid driver’s license, insurance, willingness to undergo background/drug tests, and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design programs is required.
• Knowledge of power distribution construction and planning procedures, with ability to learn proprietary software.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged use of computer keyboard, monitor, and phone.
• Ability to analyze data, transcribe notes, view screens; requires good vision and focus.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work M-F 8-5 PM Eastern time.
