About This Opportunity

Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that require Power Make Ready Design Experience. We provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. We seek knowledgeable, already-skilled staff to join our program teams.

Note: This position can work remotely, but new hires will be required to come to our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH for an initial 2-week in-person paid training period.

What You Can Expect to Do

• Execute work orders for designing power distribution infrastructure, meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and/or general distribution design, following established guidelines and procedures.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional teams to solve problems encountered during design.
• Perform Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, permit requirements, and communicate with outside parties for approvals.
• Use design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
• Perform quality control on others’ work when required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher is preferred but not required. Management may consider other education combinations.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design; 2+ years of Make-Ready Engineering / Joint-Use design experience preferred. Management may consider other combinations of education and experience.
• Personal: Valid driver’s license and insurance, willingness to pass background, drug, and driving record checks, authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel overnight if needed (minimal travel required).
• Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design programs.
• Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning procedures, with the ability to learn proprietary customer software.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged use of computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
• Ability to perform activities such as data analysis, note transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal, requiring good vision and focus.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work M-F 8-5 PM Eastern time (adjusted for other time zones).
