Job summary

HKA Enterprises in Asheville, NC is seeking an experienced Electrical/Utility Designer to develop designs for overhead and underground circuits for joint use, lighting, and commercial, industrial, and residential development. This role blends office work with substantial field activity, including exposure to inclement weather.

You will perform field data collection, produce CAD drawings and material lists, document communications, mentor peers, and prepare permitting documents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 7 years of distribution design experience, or an Associate's degree with 5 years of related work experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to walk on rough terrain with tools.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and read engineering plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform field data collection and inspections for complex projects.
• Produce CAD drawings and material lists for moderately complex projects; support more complex tasks.
• Document all project communications as required by training.
• Provide guidance and training to peers on simple projects.
• Independently produce permitting documentation as needed.
• Communicate with clients and lead site meetings with oversight.
• Work independently with limited oversight, under supervision for mentorship and training.
