Job summary

FirstEnergy Service Co. is seeking Engineering Co-op students for Spring 2027 (January 25–May 7, 2027) in the Power Delivery and Construction & Design Services groups. Eligible candidates are pursuing a B.S. in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE/BSCE/BSME) from ABET-accredited programs, or a B.S.

in Engineering Technology. On-site positions across multiple locations. Co-ops will participate in a professional development program, receive a personalized development plan, on-the-job

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a four-year ABET-accredited college/university in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• GPA 2.5+ is required.
• Must be able to relocate to/near reporting location for the assignment.
• Must be willing to work full-time during co-op rotations.
• Must be able to work in office and field environments with safety procedures.
• Sponsorship not required now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers in developing or maintaining engineering programs, revising procedures, and updating inputs.
• Assist in engineering studies, analysis, and design for transmission planning and maintenance.
• Develop system equipment models and protection specifications; investigate relay events.
• Create transmission line and substation design packages.
• Contribute to the substation maintenance strategy and reliability investigations.
• Prepare summary reports and PowerPoint presentations documenting analyses and recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers on multiple transmission projects.
