Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking engineering Co-Op students for Summer 2027 in Power Delivery and Construction & Design Services. This on-site position offers a structured development program with on-the-job training and challenging assignments to build professional skills.

Majors include Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology; ABET accreditation and a 2.5 GPA are required. Location options include multiple sites across five states; relocation may be needed.

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in a four-year ABET-accredited college/university in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better.
Must be willing to relocate near the reporting location for the duration of the assignment.
Ability to work in office and field environments with safety procedures.
Two CO-OP rotations preferred.

Responsibilities

Support engineers in developing or maintaining engineering programs and performing analytics.
Assist in engineering studies, analysis, and design for transmission planning, protection, and maintenance.
Develop system equipment models and protection specifications; investigate relay events.
Assist in developing transmission line and substation design packages.
Document analyses and recommendations in summary reports and presentations.
