Job summary

FirstEnergy Service Co. is seeking Engineering Co-op candidates for Spring 2027 (Jan 25 – May 7, 2027) to join Power Delivery and Construction & Design Services. Positions are on-site across five states, with a full-time schedule during regular business hours.

Applicants should be pursuing a BS in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or an Engineering Technology degree, with related coursework. Relocation to the reporting location may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college/university in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
• Must be willing to relocate to / reside near reporting location for the duration of the assignment.
• Must be able to work full-time during regular business hours and not be enrolled in a regular school schedule during the co-op session.
• Ability to commit to a minimum of two co-op rotations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support FirstEnergy engineers in developing or maintaining engineering programs and procedures.
• Assist engineers in performing engineering studies, analysis, and design in support of transmission engineering planning, protection, and maintenance.
• Develop system equipment models and protection specifications and investigate transmission system relay events.
• Develop transmission line and substation design packages and support the substation maintenance strategy.
