Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. in Paragould, AR is seeking a skilled Press Machine Operator to help produce precision mechanical power transmission components.

The role requires setting up full production cycles, operating Powder Press machines, reading prints, and ensuring safe, accurate results. The ideal candidate will have experience with hydraulic press setups, GD&T, tooling maintenance, and collaboration with quality teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools.
• Strong proficiency in basic math.
• Ability to accurately document machining procedures.
• Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
• Experience with hydraulic press machine setup and operation (preferred).
• Basic oral communication skills and the ability to read, comprehend, and complete logs and reports in English.
• Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
• Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies, including timekeeping.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment and stand for an entire shift.
• Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
• Eagerness to be trained and a desire to learn new skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up full production cycle and operate Powder Press machines to form a variety of work pieces.
• Optimize setup times, improve productivity, maintain tooling, and maximize machine utilization.
• Read and understand part specification prints and route instructions.
• Apply expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Troubleshoot programs and make necessary adjustments.
• Follow in-process part inspection protocols and report non-conformance issues to the Supervisor/Lead.
• Coordinate with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns.
• Work safely and consistently wear required PPE throughout the shift.
• Record and document issues for a seamless shift transition.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.
