Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear in the United States is seeking a Press Machine Operator to join our precision-driven team, producing mechanical power transmission components with care and accuracy.

You will set up and operate powder press equipment, read specifications, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure quality and on-time delivery while adhering to safety and company policies in a non-climate-controlled shop.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Powder Press machines for a full production cycle.
• Optimize setups to reduce cycle times and maximize machine utilization.
• Read prints and route instructions to ensure correct parts.
• Apply GD&T principles to inspect parts and report issues to supervisors.
• Troubleshoot programs and adjust as needed to maintain quality.

Are you ready to bring your Press Machine Operating skills to a team that values precision and innovation? At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we’re dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence, and we're looking for skilled Press Machine Operators like you!

What You’ll Do

• Press Operation: Set up full production cycle and operate Powder Press machines to form a variety of work pieces.
• Machine Optimization: Optimize setup times, improve productivity, maintain tooling, and maximize machine utilization.
• Print Interpretation: Read and understand part specification prints and route instructions.
• GD&T Application: Apply expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Program Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot programs and make necessary adjustments.
• Inspection Process: Follow in-process part inspection protocols and report non-conformance issues to the Supervisor/Lead.
• Collaborative Communication: Coordinate with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns.
• Safety Compliance: Work safely and consistently wear required PPE throughout the shift.
• Shift Documentation: Record and document issues for a seamless shift transition.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.

What You'll Bring

• Measurement Proficiency: Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools.
• Math Skills: Strong proficiency in basic math.
• Documentation Skills: Ability to accurately document machining procedures.
• Tooling Knowledge: Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
• Machine Experience: Experience with hydraulic press machine setup and operation (preferred).
• Communication: Basic oral communication skills and the ability to read, comprehend, and complete logs and reports in English.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
• Policy Compliance: Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies, including timekeeping.
• Adaptability: Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment and stand for an entire shift.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
• Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to be trained and a desire to learn new skills.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Reliability: Dependable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Your Schedule

• 3rd Shift, Sunday – Thursday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
