Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Prep Technician for the second shift to prepare, coat, and finish metal parts in an industrial setting. You will operate a Graco wet paint system, inspect finished parts, and ensure coating quality and consistency across production runs.

The role requires basic reading of blueprints and gauges, plus good listening and communication to collaborate with the team. Benefits start on day one and include health, dental, vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• 1+ years of Powder Coat experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to apply coating principles and identify problems such as fisheye or poor adhesion.
• Knowledge to set, use and read measuring instruments like viscosity testers and thickness gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
• Ability to interpret specifications for color and coating thickness.
• Ability to use tools and equipment for coating operations in an industrial setting.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Able to work well with others as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Prep, mask, coat, and finish metal surfaces.
• Operate Graco wet paint system to apply industrial finishes.
• Inspect for runs, debris, fisheye, and uncoated areas; ensure uniform thickness and gloss.
• Inspect/replace paint gun components for optimum performance.
• Perform daily checks and maintenance; assist with 5S and cleaning routines.
