Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a paint booth technician in Duncan, OK to prepare and coat manufactured parts for production on the 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm). You will operate the Graco spray system, inspect finishes, and ensure coating quality across parts.

The role requires knowledge of coating principles, ability to read gauges and blueprints, and teamwork in a manufacturing setting. Excellent attention to detail and safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge to apply coating principles; locate, identify and correct problems such as fisheye, poor adhesion or rough coatings.
• Ability to read measuring instruments such as viscosity testers and thickness gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
• Ability to interpret various specifications and standards to determine color, coating thickness, applicable mixing instructions and other factors.
• Ability to use tools and equipment needed to perform coating operations in an industrial setting.
• Good listening and communication skills.
• Able to work well with others to be a good team player.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coat manufactured parts for production.
• Inspect painted units for runs, debris, fish eye, and uncoated areas. Coated parts must be uniform in mil thickness, hardness, gloss level, and conform to specified color.
• Inspect and replace components on paint guns to ensure optimum performance.
• Perform daily checks and maintenance.
• Assist in daily 5s and cleaning procedures.
• Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from spray heads and hoses.
• Weekly replace air filters inside the paint booth.
• Monthly respray of inside of paint booth with peel away coating.
• Touches up defective areas of coated items.
• Assist other operators as needed.
• Assist others in obtaining solutions to quality and production issues.
