Job summary

The Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Jihye Kim in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Responsibilities include independent research, mentoring students, and potential teaching.

Requires PhD in metallurgy, chemical engineering, materials science, mining, chemistry, or related field with focus on critical metals extraction and waste recycling. Expertise in electrochemical processing, gallium, and process simulation is essential.

Qualifications

  • PhD in metallurgy, chemical engineering, materials science, mining, chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience in extractive metallurgy and waste recycling is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrochemical processing and gallium work.
  • Experience with process simulation and flowsheet development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 2+ independent research projects in extractive metallurgy.
  • Design and perform hands-on experiments and interpret results.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers and present findings.
  • Develop process flowsheets and run simulations for projects.
  • Collaborate with Mines and partner institutions on publications.
