Job summary

The Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Jihye Kim, focusing on critical metals extraction and waste recycling. The successful candidate will design and perform hands-on extractive metallurgy experiments, analyze results, and contribute to publications and conferences.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in metallurgy, chemical engineering, materials science, mining engineering, chemistry, or related field, with independence and strong

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in metallurgy, chemical engineering, materials science, mining engineering, chemistry, or related field, with demonstrated background in extractive metallurgy, critical metals extraction, and waste recycling.
  • Experience in leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, precipitation, crystallization, electrowinning, electrodeposition, comminution, magnetic/electrostatic/gravity separation, and flotation.
  • Experience with process flowsheet development and process simulation software is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in research activities of the Kim group and conduct multiple projects independently.
  • Disseminate findings through meetings, publications, and conferences.
  • Advise graduate and undergraduate students and mentor researchers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
