Job summary

The Colorado School of Mines is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department to support research on construction materials derived from mine tailings. This one-year position, with a potential second year, is expected to start on February 1, 2026, involving both laboratory and field-based investigations.

Key responsibilities include overseeing sample collection in Peru, evaluating reuse pathways, preparing research reports, and collaborating with partners. A PhD in a related field is required, along with strong publication skills and excellent communication abilities.

Salary ranges from $60,000 to $65,000 annually, complemented by substantial benefits.

Qualifications

  • PhD in civil, materials, geological, mining, or chemical engineering.
  • Experience in cement testing and durability testing.
  • Currently in the US with work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory and field studies on construction materials.
  • Prepare research manuscripts and technical reports.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

Skills

Strong publication record in high quality peer-reviewed journals
Excellent communication skills
Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish
