Job summary

The Colorado School of Mines Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering invites applications for a Research Technical Staff to work with Prof. Jihye Kim on Large-Scale Solvent Extraction. The successful candidate will independently execute research, plan and conduct experiments, analyze data, and prepare technical reports with strong communication skills.

We seek a Ph.D. in metallurgy, chemical or related engineering, with emphasis on extractive metallurgy and waste recycling.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in metallurgy, chemical engineering, mining engineering, materials engineering, or related field with focus on critical metals extraction.
• Experience in extractive metallurgical techniques including solvent extraction, ion exchange, precipitation, and crystallization.
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale solvent extraction is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and communicate research progress and results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute defined research work scope and plan experiments.
• Analyze and interpret data; document results and prepare technical reports.
• Present progress and collaborate with project team and industry partners.
• Travel periodically to industry collaborator’s facility to observe and support scale-up.
