Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post-Surgical Unit. The role is days shift, 24 hours per week, with a new hire incentive. The RN provides professional care, assesses patients, and collaborates with the health care team to coordinate care and ensure quality outcomes.

The position requires Michigan RN licensure, BLS/CPR, and ACLS/PALS as applicable. Candidates with BSN and unit-specific ACLS/PALS training are preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred or higher.
• Michigan RN licensure required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• ACLS certification required or must be obtained within specified timeframe.
• PALS certification preferred/required for certain units.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and needs across physical, psychological, cognitive, social, and discharge planning.
• Develop and implement a care plan using nursing diagnoses and outcomes.
• Carry out physician orders and nursing procedures following standards.
• Prioritize care based on patient needs and resource availability.
• Educate patients and families to support understanding and self-care.
• Document patient information accurately and timely in medical records.
• Respect patient rights and maintain confidentiality and safety.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and maintain composure.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Michigan Registered Professional Nurse licensure required

Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider

ACLS certification within 60 days of hire or transfer

ACLS certification within one year for Level 4/5 RN

PALS provider preferred (Level 6; ED PALS preferred)

PALS certification within six months of hire or transfer
